Air Fryer Temperature Guide: Every Food's Ideal Setting

A complete air fryer temperature chart for chicken, steak, fish, vegetables, frozen food, and baked goods — in both Celsius and Fahrenheit.

2026-05-03

Most air fryer recipes give you a temperature for one specific dish. This guide gives you the temperature logic behind all of them — so you can set the dial confidently for any food, even when you don't have a recipe in front of you.

Why Air Fryer Temperatures Differ from Oven Temperatures

Air fryers run hotter than ovens at the same dial setting. Hot air circulates at higher velocity in the small chamber, which means food is exposed to more aggressive heat than the number suggests. The standard adjustment is to subtract 25°F (14°C) from a convection oven recipe, or 50°F (28°C) from a conventional oven recipe.

The temperatures in the chart below are already calibrated for the air fryer — no further adjustment needed. If you're starting from an oven recipe instead, use the Oven to Air Fryer Converter to get the right starting point.

How to Read the Chart

Times are for a single layer. If you crowd the basket, add time and expect uneven results — hot air needs to circulate around each piece. When in doubt, cook in batches.

Internal temperature beats visual cues. The air fryer browns the outside faster than the inside cooks through, especially for thick pieces. A meat thermometer is the only reliable way to confirm doneness for poultry, pork, and beef. Target temps are included in the chart where food safety is a factor.

Preheat for 3 minutes. Starting cold adds 3–5 minutes to actual cooking time and throws off the times in any chart. Preheat first, then add food.

Check early, adjust from there. These times assume a well-calibrated air fryer. Consumer models can run 10–20°F hotter or cooler than the dial says. The first time you cook something new, check 2–3 minutes before the lower end of the range.

Brand Calibration

The temperatures above assume a standard air fryer. Ninja, Cosori, and Philips models all have documented calibration offsets — some run hot, some cool, and this is most noticeable when cooking proteins or baking. If your results are consistently over or underdone, the Brand Converter adjusts settings for your specific model.

Temperature Units

The chart lists both Celsius and Fahrenheit. If you need to switch between units for any reason — or if your air fryer's dial only shows one and your recipe shows the other — use the °C / °F Converter.
